I have been asked many times, what's the difference between a JingleI and a song, I reckon that a Jingle is like a short chorus of a song or as they say in the music business, it's a "hook" a catchy little melody line with relevant words to the product being promoted but with many variables. I wrote my first couple of jingles in Sydney in 1988 and I really liked what I wrote, in some ways it was like putting the equivalent of a complete song into a short phrase or chorus, every second is crucial when writing a jingle. I wrote words to an old famous tune in 1987 for a sales company that I was working for in Perth, it was a smash hit with all the employes and I performed it on many occasions at the start of the working day, it was a great way to kick start the day and the company boss just loved the fact that this was their very own personal song. I can write a song for any business and also I can incorporate some personalities that may like to be included in the song/jingle. How about a song just for you or perhaps for you and your partner I can and have done this before. I had a residency at the Karratha International Hotel in 1989 and during this time I was asked to write a jingle for the Tambrey Centre, an entertainment complex in town. Karratha is the regional centre for the inland iron ore and gold mining towns of the Pilbara region in the northwest of Western Australia. I wrote a catchy little jingle for the Tambrey center that went on air on the local TV channel and I was stoked to see myself singing my new jingle on the telly I was so proud of my little self. Since then I have been more focused on my songwriting and now I am getting back at doing some jingle writing again, it's a cool kinda thing, especially when you are approached by a big company or any business for that matter. People have often said about my songs that they are very singable and they often use the phrase, "catchy" it seems that I have "hooks" in many of my songs, this is just my style of song writing and jingle writing and I am blessed to have such a wonderful talent.
